We Met at a Bar...That's Right...Like Mother Like Daughter :)...Our Story From the Beginning!

So, it’s a little late but what can I say other than BETTER LATE THAN NEVER...life has been pretty crazy this year! A lot of my long distance friends asked how we met when we announced our engagement and I completely slacked off and never responded so here it goes…
One year ago my friend Magen ran in to this guy at church that she knew her freshman year of college at BYU-I. His sister in law's little sister was her roommate Freshman year so they ran in to each other here and there throughout the year. Of course as my luck would have it, I was gone the ONE Sunday he decided to grace the Singles Ward with his presence. For those of you who have seen the movie Singles Ward…you’ll realize why it was the one and only time he came (other than the one Sunday after we met that he was trying to reel me in) :). One day during our routine gmail chat conversations about the shortage of single, datable (this was the key) guys in D-town or the FW areas, Magen informed me that I missed out on seeing the cutest country boy (she was well informed of my deep love for country boys). We just so happened to be going to Billy Bob’s Country Honky Tonk bar that Saturday night for the Chris Cagle concert so I told her she should invite him…after all if he was so country how could he ever turn down a trip to Billy Bob’s?
Surprisingly…he showed up! Even more surprising is that he left the lake EARLY to come hang out with a young single adult group…and for those of you who know him…that’s probably the only singles activity he’s attended since college. Okay that may be a little bit of an exaggeration, but his attendance at them was few and far between and he definitely didn’t routinely leave the lake early for anything, let alone YSA's! The second he walked in with his jeans, Luchenback t-shirt, cowboy boots, adorable smile and freshly sunned up skin…I was smitten!
We spent the whole night next to each other at the concert and he kept pretending that he could not hear me so he could stand closer and with slight flirtation brush up against my arm. He tries to claim that it was me that made the moves but we all know the real truth…it was probably a good combination of each of us. What can I say, when a girl knows what she wants, she goes and gets it…at least a smart one does :).
From there it’s all history. We went to the singles ward together the next day and were inseperable for the next 2 months. I met his family after less than a week for his birthday and he met mine for my birthday 2 weeks later. This was a HUGE deal for us...I had not brought a guy home since my freshman year of college and he had not brought a girl home in forever either. The best part of everything was how natural it all was, no games, no DTR’s (had to throw that reference out haha), just straight ease of being together.
We’ve had lots of great times together including me being exposed to the country life and learning that high heels are not so good to go feed cows in, and him learning there are cities outside of Wise and Tarrant Counties...like Carrollton:).
We dated for 9 months, got engaged in March, and were married in the Dallas Temple on our 1 year anniversary…awwww. A BIG Texas sized shout out to our friend Magen for hooking it all up. Our relationship has definitely been a validation that everything has it’s time and place and when things are meant to be, they fall perfectly in place!!
